President Trump on Friday reaffirmed his plans to “clean up” cities like Chicago, Baltimore, New York, and San Francisco with federal law enforcement and potential National Guard deployment in the cities, whether local officials want him to or not.
“We have the safest place, Washington, DC, and we’ll be going to other cities to help out,” he said.
“Preferably, we’d like to be asked, but in some cases, that just won’t happen because they’re people that don’t understand the word ask, people that don’t understand they’re in trouble, or they’re stupid.”
Trump made the comments while hosting a dinner with White House officials, members of Congress, and friends in the White House’s newly renovated Rose Garden.

Trump indicated that he’s not just going to focus on Democratic states, giving a nod to the “great” Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and “great” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). “We’re going to come into New Orleans, and we’re going to make that place so safe. It’s got a little problem right now, a couple of headaches, like murders, a lot of little murders going on, and we’re not going to stand for it,” he said.
New Orleans, however, is run by corrupt Democratic Mayor LaToya Cantrell, who currently faces federal charges for wire fraud and obstruction of justice.
“And we’re going to come in, we’re going to clean it up. You’re going to be safe within two weeks. That’s going to be the safest place, just like this is the safest place,” Trump added. “And then we’ll be going elsewhere throughout the country.”
WATCH:
So, we have the safest place, Washington, DC, and we’ll be going to other cities to help out. Preferably, we’d like to be asked, but in some cases, that just won’t happen because they’re people that don’t understand the word ask, people that don’t understand they’re in trouble, or they’re stupid. There’s something wrong with them. But these are high crime areas, as high as there is in the world.
You can go to Afghanistan. You can go to places that you think of are like unsafe. You’re safer there that you are in Chicago at night. But we’re going to make Chicago like this. We’re going to make Louisiana— we have a great governor there. We’re going to— and a great, by the way, and a great speaker there, that’s true. But we’re going to come into New Orleans, and we’re going to make that place so safe. It’s got a little problem right now, a couple of headaches, like murders, a lot of little murders going on, and we’re not going to stand for it.
And we’re going to come in, we’re going to clean it up. You’re going to be safe within two weeks. That’s going to be the safest place, just like this is the safest place. And then we’ll be going elsewhere throughout the country. We’re going to bring crime down, because we can’t have cities that are unsafe.
This comes as Chicago braces for potential National Guard deployment, with Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson taking countermeasures to portray the city as safe, despite the high numbers of shootings and murders occurring every week.
Meanwhile, DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb is suing the Trump administration to remove National Guard troops from the capital. His lawsuit ridiculously argues that the troops are actually “putting public safety at risk.”
Trump recently made similar threats to deploy federal agents and troops in Illinois and other high-crime cities like Baltimore. “We have the right to do it because I have an obligation to protect this country,” he said.
