Bodycam footage has emerged showing the moment a Florida woman made a near-fatal mistake by taking a knife to a gunfight with a police officer.
As WJHG reported on Tuesday, the Port St. Joe Police Department released bodycam footage showing the moment a woman was shot multiple times after charging a police officer with a 16-inch fillet knife.
WMBB notes that the bodycam shows not only footage of the shooting but also events that led up to the August 15 incident. For example, Walker was involved in several hit-and-run incidents.
The footage also shows officers trying to disarm Walker with a taser. These efforts fail, and then she forces one officer to make a split-second life-or-death decision.
Walker jumps out of the car with the knife and charges like a maniac toward the police sergeant. He responds by unleashing gunfire, dropping the woman to the ground.
“She came at me with a knife, what the h*ll did you expect me to do?” the policeman says to witnesses.

WMBB reported that Walker suffered two gunshot wounds but survived. She was treated at a local hospital.
The suspect was identified as 41-year-old Tekila Walker. She was arrested on September 1.
WMBB confirmed that the arrest is connected to this incident.
Walker has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence.
Port Saint Joe Police Chief Jake Richards said a Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
