New York City officials are scheduled to hold a press conference at approximately 10 pm ET to provide updates on the deadly shooting in Midtown, Manhattan, which left five, including an off-duty cop, dead.
The shooter casually strolled into the 44-story skyscraper at 345 Park Avenue, wearing a bulletproof vest and armed with a semiautomatic rifle, and opened fire on the police officer before making his way up to the 33rd floor, where he was found dead by suicide.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams provided an update from the scene shortly after 8 pm ET.

I’m here at the scene of 51st and Park Avenue. Unfortunately, we had a shooting here with multiple injuries. The perpetrator, the known perpetrator, is neutralized at this time. Those who are in the building, we’re asking you to remain inside as police officers are doing a floor-by-floor search. We believe, again, the perpetrator is neutralized at this time. We’ll be going over to the hospital to speak with the family and loved ones involved in this incident. We did a shooting with multiple injuries at this time, but the perpetrator is neutralized.
The Gateway Pundit reported that the shooter was later identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura from Las Vegas.

His motives are still unclear, but it appears this may have been a targeted attack.
Officials are expected to provide additional updates at 10 pm ET.
