Ever since the pre-pandemic days of Donald J. Trump’s first term, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has been facing a manpower shortage that escalated with the heavily politicized work of the agency under the Joe Biden administration from hell.
To attract and retain quality human resources became a real challenge, as Americans felt no pull towards an ailing FBI that was fully invested in the protection of shady Democrat operators.
But now the FBI appears to be on the mend.
A report by Fox News, that has been confirmed online by FBI director Kash Patel and his deputy director Dan Bongino, reveals that the FBI ‘received a record number of new agent applications in Kash Patel’s first full month leading the bureau’.
The influx of job-seekers is now at a level that is double the monthly average since 2016.
Fox News reported:
“There were 5,577 new FBI agent applications submitted in March, Fox News Digital has learned. The last time the bureau saw a monthly figure even close to that number was April 2016, with 5,283 applications.
By comparison, the monthly average in 2023 was 2,797 applications, with 3,383 applications per month in 2024, according to FBI data reviewed by Fox News Digital.”
The work is only beginning — but this FBI is letting good cops be cops, and more and more brave men and women are seeking to be apart of it. Our team is doing an outstanding job finding the best of the best.
Renewed mission. Stronger future. https://t.co/NbYJaEP4ZC

As a measure of just how much the public trust in the agency had declined, we remember Patel noting during his Senate confirmation hearing back in January: only 40% of Americans held a favorable view of the FBI at that time.
This lack of trust hindered recruitment efforts, as public perception is vital for the bureau’s appeal to prospective agents.

But it’s not just that Patel and Bongino, under AG Pam Bondi, are moving the bureau away from its previous partisan behavior: the serious, hardcore work has managed to achieve several victories on the ground.
As a separate Fox report enumerates, the FBI under Patel has managed to arrest a top MS-13 member, Henrry Josue Villatoro Santos; apprehended no less than three fugitives from the FBI’s top 10 Most Wanted list; raided and arrested 22 members of a narcotics trafficking ring in Lubbock, Texas, tied to violent drug cartels based in Mexico; is cracking down on vandals targeting Tesla dealerships, charging stations, and individual Tesla cars; successfully disruption a major cryptocurrency financing scheme used to launder money to Hamas.
